About me
Antonio Roman-Alcalá is an educator, researcher, writer, musician, and organizer based in Berkeley, California who has worked on sustainable food systems and radical political change for over 20 years. Antonio is currently an Assistant Professor at California State University East Bay teaching Geography and Environmental Studies, while researching movements for social and environmental justice through agroecology and food sovereignty. His previous efforts include founding urban farms, civil society alliances, and activist-researcher networks, and documentary filmmaking. He is the author of North Stars of Emancipation: California’s Diverse Food and Farming Movements in Times of Racial Reckoning.
