Cary Escovedo is an internationally recognized harm reduction advocate, drag entertainer, communicable disease specialist, and performance artist living in Oakland, California. Doing business as drag queen “Kochina Rude,” he uses this persona as a vehicle for artistic expression as well as for overdose prevention advocacy in queer nightlife communities. A jerk-of-all-trades, he is a producer, master of ceremonies, and writer, implementing anecdotes and cultural critique through personal essays as well as comedy podcast “Diva Dudes” on Substack.
