About me
Edward Gauvin translates from French with a personal focus on post-Surrealist literatures of the fantastic and graphic novels, of which he has translated more than 450 to date for readers of all ages. His award-winning writing and translations have appeared in McSweeney's, the New York Times, the Guardian, Harper’s, Subtropics, Words Without Borders, the Paris Review, and LitHub. He has received fellowships and residencies from the Guggenheim and Lannan foundations, Art Omi, PEN America, the late NEA, the Fulbright program, and the French and Belgian governments. As an advocate for translation and Francophone literatures, he has written widely, spoken at universities and festivals, and taught at the Bread Loaf Translators’ Conference. His most recent prose translation is Georges-Olivier Châteaureynaud’s The Messengers from Wakefield Press. His own fiction debut, The Ear in All the Night, is forthcoming from 7.13 Books.
