About me
Jilanne Hoffmann’s middle grade historical-contemporary novel in verse and prose, HeartLand, blends a coming-of-age story and family and friendship dynamics with environmental activism. It received a starred review from School Library Journal and glowing reviews from Booklist, Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, and Shelf Awareness, where it was called “multifaceted and beguiling.” Her nonfiction picture book, The Ocean’s Heart: The Tiny Creatures Essential to Life, received starred reviews from Kirkus and Booklist and is a Skipping Stones Honor Book. She is also the author of the award-winning picture book, A River of Dust: The Life-Giving Link Between North Africa and the Amazon.
