About me
Monica Korde is a poet and artist from India based in California. She served as Poet Laureate of Belmont (2021–2025) and is the city’s first South Asian immigrant to hold the role. Founder of Project POETRY 360, Monica centers the voices of bipoc, queer, youth, and immigrant artists through collaborative work and readings. She engages in poetry, visual art, and performance to build bridges across cultures and communities. Her recent poetic and visual work exploring heritage has been exhibited in Half Moon Bay and San Bruno. Her poems appear or are forthcoming in Caesura, LAdige Review, Poets For Science, Weavers Literary Review, and elsewhere. As an Artist-in-Residence with Government (AIRG) through the San Mateo County Office of Arts and Culture, she has extended her work into civic contexts and continues to explore new ways of seeing and creating.
